Project Title:
Accuracy of Krylov Space Solvers for Large Sparse
Linear Systems of Equations
Summary:
Krylov space solvers for linear systems of equations are normally
very efficient and for that reason often the only feasible tool
for solving the huge systems that result from the discretization
of partial differential equations in several dimensions.
But the price for the efficiency is reduced reliability and accuracy
due to roundoff effects. We study these effects and investigate
various measures to increase the reliability of the algorithms and
the accuracy of the approximate solution provided.
