Second Order Accurate Boundary Treatment for Cartesian Grid Methods

Description

We simulate Euler flows using a higher order Cartesian grid method together with a special treatment for the cells cut by the boundary of a body. As a standard Cartesian grid method we use a dimensional splitting method and the multi-dimensional CLAWPACK method of LeVeque. We work on boundary treatments for the cut cells based on the h-box boundary treatment of Berger and LeVeque. A flexible boundary treatment was developed yielding good results in 2D and 3D as was demonstrated in my thesis . The method was extended to handle also moving geometries as presented in the proceedings paper for the HYP98 Conference on hyperbolic problems. In ongoing work we use the new boundary treatment for Hi-Re flows around arbitrary objects using Cartesian grids.
