The Stiefel Centennial Lecture

Eduard L. Stiefel (21 April 1909 - 25 November 1978) was a Swiss mathematician, who pioneered applied mathematics in Switzerland. On the occasion of Stiefel's centennial, Pierre-Atoine Absil from Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium, will present a talk on the use of Stiefel manifolds and related concepts in modern numerical algorithms.
