Eduard L. Stiefel (21 April 1909 - 25 November 1978) was a Swiss mathematician, who pioneered applied mathematics in Switzerland. On the occasion of Stiefel's centennial, Pierre-Atoine Absil from Université catholique de Louvain, Belgium, will present a talk on the use of Stiefel manifolds and related concepts in modern numerical algorithms.

There will be an apéro at the same place after the talk. Everybody is cordially invited. There is no registration required.
